Widow Week

Well it is Widow Week for me. Dad is in Alaska fishing with Bruce. So Polly and I decided to go to Las Vegas and see a show. We wanted to see Mama Mia. It was good but Vegas style. A little more physical than I wanted. We stayed at the The Trump, it was suppose to be condos but didn't sell. So they rent them out as a Hotel. It was flashy but not to my taste, very contemporary. Cold in my opinion.

Happy Birthday Tom

Aug 20th

Happy Birthday to Tom, We are proud of all you have done for our country and our daughter. You are a good man. We wish you all the best. We love you all.

Where did the time go?

I can't believe Aug. is almost over. Where did the month go. It seems I'm more sensitive to time now that it is almost time to go back to work. We were excited to have Lia and Mark and there family come down on Aug 16th and spend the day with us. We swam and had a barbecue. It was so fun to see the kids. You have a great family and we love ya.

Happy Birthday Dee

On Aug. 6th Deanna turned one year older. I'll be nice and not tell how young you are. We were not there for the acutual day, so we celebrated before. She was having such a hard time with her computer, I got her a external hard drive and set it up for her. Hope it helps. Zeek thought it was for him. We love you and hope you had a great day.

Cabin

We took Melinda,Seth,Grandma & Grandpa Dodge to the cabin this week. We left on Wed and came home Thurs. it is always such a treat to be in the mountains with fresh air and no noise. It was a milestone for me. I walked up to the spring for the first time. That was a hike and I made it. There was a storm that came in and it hailed, and rained. We woke to fog and lighting. We played games and had a great time. It is so fun to have Grandma & Grandpa there. They are amazing at 92 and still going strong. The air was a little thin for Grandpa. Next time we will have to take some oxygen.

Nauvoo

Then it was off to Nauvoo. Madison turned 12 this July and wanted to do baptisms for the dead for her birthday. So we went Tuesday night. Deanna, Wes, and I also got to be baptized. They were very friendly at the temple and told us all kinds of stories. They invited us to go see the sword of Joseph Smiths from the battalion. Then we went to the Pageant. The kids really enjoyed all the activities that they had before the pageant. They could do all the pioneer things. Then Wednesday we visited the home of Joseph and Emma, the visitors center ( where there were lots of statues done by Dennis Smith. Alan Smiths brother.)Then we went to the Cartridge Jail. It was very spiritual there and I am so glad that we were able to go. What a spiritual week we had.

Our Pioneer children.

Zeek riding the sheep. Mutton riding. Getting him ready for the rodeo.

All tired out!
We went to some of the plays that they put on during the day.

Gracie turns 8

On July 28th Gracie turned 8 and was baptised a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It was a wonderful day. We went to the park before and took pictures. She is such a pretty girl. She loved her new dress. She likes frills. We then went to the church for the baptism. After we got pizza, ice cream cake and cupcakes. Then we went to her house to eat it. She received her very own scriptures and many other wonderful things. It was fun to be with all the grand kids. What beautiful kids. They all have there own talents and personality's.

Seth turns 25

Seth turned 25 today July 26th 2008. He is a quarter of a century old. Wow. We went out to dinner Friday night at Tacanos Brazilian Grill there was lots to eat all different kinds of meats were brought to our table to try. Then on his birthday the Pierce's came over for a barbecue and we had cake and ice cream.

Eat dirt

We laughed when we got home and saw how dirty we were. It was really dusty.

Down in the valley

Even the deer liked the view.

Dad and I took a ride up to Tower Mountain. It was a beautiful view. The sunset was great. We saw deer. We took Billing's new four wheeler. It was really fun.

Off to Missouri

Deanna and I left Dallas and drove to her house in Missouri with David and Alexis. The next day we took the car back to Kansas and went shopping. The next day we started painting. The kids were all so helpful. Even Zeek gave us a hand. She has a beautiful house and I can't wait to see it done.

Six Flags Over Texas

It was so hot we looked forward to the rides with water. We all came out soaking wet and didn't even mind. It didn't take long to dry off.
Seth looked out for the little ones. Made sure they were having fun.

Our Family went to Alethia's in Texas to help her. We took the kids to Six Flags in Dallas. It was so humid we drank about 5 gals of Gatorade. They all had a fun time.

Women in the Wild

We did our yearly scrap booking marathon this year. There were 6 of us. Melinda came for the first time. From right to left. Britt Lunt, Jess Marvell, Melinda Dodge, Chris Dodge, Polly Billings missing from picture was Claudine she had to leave early. We had a wonderful time and did a lot of our genealogy. We decided that scrap booking should be a sport.
